Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
IAIC Transactions on Sustainable Digital Innovation (ITSDI) is a peer-reviewed open-access journal committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This statement defines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publishing process: authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher. Our policies are aligned with the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices.
1. Duties and Responsibilities of the Publisher
- Editorial Independence: The publisher (Pandawan Sejahtera Indonesia) ensures that editorial decisions are completely independent of commercial, advertising, or financial interests.
- Academic Integrity: Supports the editorial team in maintaining high standards of academic quality, transparency, and ethical compliance.
- Handling Misconduct: Collaborates with editors to address allegations of research misconduct, plagiarism, or copyright violations appropriately.
2. Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
- Publication Decisions: The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts will be published based strictly on scientific merit, methodology, originality, and relevance.
- Fair Play & Non-Discrimination: Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their intellectual content, without regard to the author's race, gender, religious beliefs, citizenship, or political philosophy.
- Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must keep all details of submitted manuscripts confidential from unauthorized parties.
- Disclosure & Conflicts of Interest: Unpublished information disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without written consent.
3. Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Peer Review Process: ITSDI enforces a strict double-blind peer-review policy, evaluated by at least three independent expert reviewers to ensure objectiveness and rigor.
- Promptness: Any reviewer who feels unqualified or unable to provide a timely review must notify the editor immediately.
- Confidentiality & Objectivity: Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and provide objective, constructive feedback backed by scientific evidence.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant uncited work and report any significant overlap/similarity with published data.
4. Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
- Originality & Plagiarism Limits: Authors must ensure their work is entirely original. All submissions are screened for similarity; the similarity index must not exceed 20% (using Turnitin or iThenticate).
- Multiple/Redundant Publication: Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently is considered unethical publishing behavior.
- Authorship Standards: Authorship must be limited to those who made substantial contributions to the conception, execution, or interpretation of the study. All co-authors must approve the final version.
- Data Access and Retention: Authors may be asked to provide raw data for editorial review and should maintain research data for a reasonable period post-publication.
- Generative AI Policy: The use of Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) must be explicitly disclosed in the manuscript's Methods or Acknowledgments section. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
- Disclosure of Conflicts: Authors must declare any financial support, institutional grants, or commercial conflicts of interest.
5. Corrections, Retractions, and Publication Misconduct
- Post-Publication Corrections: When significant errors or inaccuracies are identified after publication, the journal will publish a correction notice (Erratum/Corrigendum).
- Article Retraction: Articles will be retracted in cases of severe ethical violations, data falsification, major plagiarism, or unresolvable copyright issues, following standard COPE guidelines.
